Ondo State police have confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old man, Gabriel Pius, for allegedly stabbing his elder brother, Abu Simon, to death during a domestic quarrel in Idanre.
Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, disclosed that the fatal altercation occurred on June 27, 2025, and was reported by a family acquaintance, Gabriel Michael. Officers from the Idanre Division promptly swung into action and arrested the suspect.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of life resulting from this domestic altercation. Our detectives have moved swiftly to ensure justice will be served,” CP Lawal stated.
The suspect, now in custody, has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for thorough interrogation. Police said he will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.
Police Crack Down on Criminal Syndicates
In a related development, the Ondo State Police Command also announced a string of security breakthroughs across the state, including the dismantling of a notorious four-man armed robbery syndicate operating across Akure, Owo, Ondo and surrounding communities.
The Command's Tactical Intelligence and Response Squad (TIRS) apprehended two of the gang members outside Ondo State shortly after a robbery incident in Akure on June 27. This led to the capture of two additional suspects, including a notorious receiver of stolen property.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the syndicate is involved in a wider car-snatching and trafficking network,” the commissioner said.
Recovered items include a stolen car and multiple mobile phones, while police operatives are continuing their efforts to track down additional stolen goods and arrest other accomplices, including an alleged arms supplier still on the run.
CP Lawal reiterated the commitment of the police to rid the state of criminal elements, assuring the public that all those involved will face the full weight of the law.
