Delta Monarchs Urge Investment, Dredging as NPA Board Visits Host Communities

The Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, led the NPA delegation on a working visit to Delta State ports. During this period, the NPA team paid courtesy visits to traditional rulers in appreciation of the support that the Delta port has received from host communities and the youths.

At the palace of the Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty Major General Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd), Orhue I, Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, the Chairman expressed his gratitude for the cordial relationship and support enjoyed from the community. The Orodje warmly embraced the NPA Chairman as a Prince and pointed out that the Delta Port, when strategically positioned, has the potential to decongest the Lagos ports, increase national revenue, and enhance trade. The monarch thus called for a strategic and long-term investment in the Delta port infrastructure.

The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to His Majesty, Ã’gíamè Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, where the Chairman expressed gratitude to the monarch for his long-standing support, particularly during the days of the SWAGA movement when the Chairman visited him to present the candidacy of the now President of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Chairman and his team congratulated the monarch on his fourth anniversary on the throne.

The Olu of Warri warmly received the Chairman as a Prince and commended the Federal Government on constituting a proactive NPA Board led by Senator Adeyeye. The monarch also emphasised the importance of dredging of channels so as to optimally utilise the Warri Port, and urged the Board to intervene to ensure more effort is in place to address this challenge.
