Saudi Arabia Approves Burial of Aminu Dantata in Madina as Final Wish Is Honoured

The remains of the late elder statesman, business titan, and philanthropist Aminu Dantata will be laid to rest in the holy city of Madina, Saudi Arabia, following official approval by the Kingdom's authorities.

The confirmation was made by Mustapha Abdullahi Junaid, the Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the deceased, who disclosed via his Facebook account that the clearance to move the body from Abu Dhabi to Madina had been granted, with the burial scheduled for Monday morning.

“An approval has been gotten to move the corpse of Aminu Dantata from Abu Dhabi to Madina for the burial tomorrow, Monday morning,” Junaid posted, highlighting the successful arrangements to honour Dantata’s burial request.

A Final Wish Fulfilled

Dantata, who passed away at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, had reportedly documented his wish to be buried in Madina, the resting place of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). His will emphasized his desire for a quiet and sacred final repose in Islam’s second holiest city.

This rare permission reflects both the respect accorded to Dantata by the Kingdom and the significance of his stature across the Muslim world.

Tributes from Nigeria

Although Dantata’s burial will take place outside his homeland, Nigeria has not held back in paying tribute. On Saturday, hundreds of dignitaries, political leaders, business associates, clerics, and well-wishers gathered in Kano for a funeral prayer in absentia.

The prayer session, held at the Umar Bin Khattab Mosque, was led by Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, Chairman of the Kano State Council of Ulamas. The emotional gathering underscored the profound impact Dantata had on generations of Nigerians through both his commercial legacy and philanthropic efforts.

A Life of Purpose and Generosity

Aminu Dantata was not just one of Nigeria’s most prominent businessmen; he was a towering figure in philanthropy, community development, and Islamic educationHis contributions extended far beyond Kano, touching lives across Nigeria and inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs and changemakers.

A National Loss, a Global Legacy

As the body of Aminu Dantata is prepared for its final journey to Madina, tributes continue to pour in across political, religious, and business circles. His death marks the end of an era for a family that played a foundational role in Nigeria’s commercial evolution, and for a man who never hesitated to give back to society.

While Nigeria mourns, the world will remember Dantata not only for his wealth and wisdom, but for a legacy steeped in faith, humility, and service. His resting place in Madina cements that legacy in one of Islam’s most sacred grounds, a fitting end for a man whose life embodied dignity, devotion, and duty.
