United Nigeria Airlines Flights to Ekiti Sell Out Within Hours of Announcement

Bookings for commercial flights into Ekiti State have surged dramatically, with most seats selling out within hours after United Nigeria Airlines announced it would begin operations to the state.

Checks by Civil Reporters on the airline’s booking platform show that the Lagos–Ekiti service for Friday, December 12, has reached full capacity across all classes, including Economy Promo, Economy Saver, Economy Flex, Premium Economy and Business Class. The Abuja–Ekiti flight for the same date shows only six seats left in Economy Saver, with limited availability in Economy Flex, while all other fare categories are fully booked.

Return flights from Ekiti to Lagos and Abuja are experiencing similar demand, with just five seats remaining in Economy Flex. There are speculations among travellers and observers that many of those securing these return seats are the same passengers who booked inbound flights, eager to make the most of the new air link in both directions.

The immediate rush follows a public announcement issued by the Ekiti State Government through the Commissioner for Information, confirming that booking is now open for direct commercial flights on the United Nigeria Airlines platform.

The statement informed residents, visitors and business travellers that they can now book flights to and from Ekiti, Lagos and Abuja via the airline’s official website.

The government described the development as a significant milestone in Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s transportation and economic agenda, noting that the introduction of direct flights will enhance safety, reduce travel time and offer greater convenience for commuters.

The Information Ministry urged the public to take full advantage of the new service as Ekiti strengthens its connectivity and opens fresh pathways for commerce, tourism and economic growth.
