Al-Makura Declares Loyalty to Tinubu, Open to Leading APC if Called Upon

Former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, has declared his readiness to serve President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in any capacity deemed necessary for the progress of Nigeria and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Al-Makura made the statement during an interview with Trust TV, amid speculations surrounding his possible emergence as the next substantive national chairman of the APC.

The ex-governor, widely regarded as a loyal party stalwart, said he remains unwavering in his commitment to the party and to the leadership of President Tinubu.

“If Mr President, as the leader of this country, tells me that ‘Al-Makura, I want you to come to my office and dust my table every Monday, that is what pleases me, that is what I feel will make the party and this country progress. I can assure you that I will make it a date that every Monday at that appointed time, I will come, dust the table, and go,” he said.

Al-Makura added that he would gladly accept the role of APC national chairman if offered, noting, “I am an incurable and committed member of the party.”

His statement comes as the APC leadership seeks a new direction following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as national chairman in June. While the party has yet to announce a replacement, Al-Makura's name has repeatedly featured in political circles as a potential front-runner.

As internal consultations continue, observers say his extensive experience as a former governor and senator, coupled with his long-standing loyalty to the party, could position him as a unifying figure ahead of the 2027 elections.
