The Federal
Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, June 6 and Monday, June
9, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
This
announcement was made via a press release on Monday by the Permanent Secretary,
Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani. The declaration was made on behalf of
the government by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In his
message to the nation, the Minister extended warm greetings to the Muslim
faithful both within Nigeria and in the diaspora, urging all to reflect on the
values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim
(Peace be upon Him).
“This is a
time to demonstrate devotion and selflessness,” the Minister said, while encouraging Nigerians to also use the period
to pray for peace, progress, and national prosperity.
🔧 Renewed Hope Agenda: A Path to Progress
Dr
Tunji-Ojo also highlighted that the Federal Government remains committed to
implementing people-oriented reforms as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda under
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He assured citizens that the policies in place aim
to restore Nigeria’s place as a progressive and united nation.
“We must
all join hands to build the Nigeria we desire,” the statement concluded.
