During the operation, 12 children were found at the premises. The victims, aged between 6 months and 14 years, were discovered in poor living conditions. Investigations revealed that the children were brought from various villages in the Arochukwu area.

“The rescued minors have been safely handed over to the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs for proper care and rehabilitation,” ACP Adejobi stated.

The two suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations. The authorities are also working to trace the children's families and unravel any larger trafficking or exploitation network.

🛡️ IGP Egbetokun Commends Operatives, Reaffirms Child Protection Mandate

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, praised the operatives for their swift and decisive action, describing the raid as a victory for child protection and justice.

“These successes reaffirm our commitment to rid our communities of illegal arms, criminal networks, and exploitative activities targeting the most vulnerable,” the IGP said.

Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious orphanages, shelters, or adoption offers to nearby police stations or relevant government ministries. Community awareness remains a crucial tool in protecting children from trafficking, abuse, and neglect.
