Nigeria to Host West Africa Economic Summit 2025, President Tinubu Declares

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially announced the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) 2025, set to take place in Abuja from June 20–21, under the theme “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Region.”
The summit, which aligns with President Tinubu’s earlier commitment to a people-centred foreign policy, aims to drive meaningful economic transformation across West Africa through trade, innovation, and regional collaboration.

“This summit is not just an event. It is a bold step toward a prosperous, integrated West Africa powered by trade, innovation, and our most valuable asset: our people,” the President said in a statement.
WAES 2025 is expected to attract a high-profile gathering of Heads of State, global CEOs, investors, entrepreneurs, youth innovators, and development partners. Key features will include a Presidential Roundtable, regional project partnerships, a Deal Room for investment matchmaking, and youth showcases spotlighting innovation and enterprise.

With its sights set on accelerating growth, bridging economic gaps, and improving regional competitiveness, the summit represents a concrete step in translating West Africa’s potential into prosperity.

President Tinubu concluded with a global invitation: “Join us in Abuja as we build a stronger, more unified, and globally competitive West Africa.”
