JAMB Releases Resit Results for 2025 UTME — Over 21,000 Candidates Absent

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the rescheduled 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted for candidates affected by a technical error earlier in the year.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the board revealed that of the 336,845 candidates slated for the resit, a surprising 21,082 were absent from the examination. No reason was given for the large number of no-shows.

This resit followed a significant disruption during the original exam in April, which led to the compromise of results for 379,997 candidates across 157 centres in Lagos and the South-East. The issue, traced to a server malfunction during the first three days of the examination, prevented the proper upload of candidate responses.

In a press briefing held on May 14, JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, offered a public apology and became emotional while taking responsibility for the glitch. He assured affected candidates they would have a fair chance to retake the exam under improved technical conditions.

The initial results of the 2025 UTME were released on May 9, but the board swiftly moved to correct the identified errors, leading to the rescheduling of the test for thousands of candidates.

JAMB urges all affected candidates to check their results promptly on the official portal.
