Four Kidnap Victims Regain Freedom in Niger State After Sustained Security Operation

In a major breakthrough, the Niger State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of four kidnapped victims from Sarkin-Pawa, Munya Local Government Area, following months of intensive security operations.

The announcement was made on Saturday in Minna through a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun.

The victims — Deborah Daina, Gambo Amos, Cyprus Titus, and Satti Iko — had been abducted on February 20 during a night attack on Hayin-Dogo and Dangunu villages. The incident, which occurred around 10 p.m., initially saw five people kidnapped, including one Usman Daina, who was released after two days in captivity.

SP Abiodun noted that since the abduction, a joint security task force had been carrying out continuous clearance and rescue operations in the area. Their sustained pressure finally paid off on May 22 at around noon when the remaining victims managed to escape from their captors.

The rescued individuals were immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention and have since been reunited with their families.

Niger State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Elleman, praised the efforts of the joint security team, commending their bravery and commitment. He reassured the public of the police’s ongoing dedication to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
