Prince Adeyeye Charts Reform Agenda at First NPA Board Meeting, Prioritises Staff Welfare and Operational Efficiency


The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), on Monday, July 22, 2025, held its first board meeting under the chairmanship of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye, signalling the beginning of a new era of reform and strategic innovation. The inaugural meeting had in attendance the board members, the executive directors and the head of various departments.


In his remark, the board Chairman expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to him by the President, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to lead the Nigeria Port Authority. The Chairman also highlighted critical areas during his remarks, charting a clear direction which are crucial to the growth and development of the Port Authority.

I took the opportunity to once again express gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the opportunity to lead such a dynamic team for the success of the Nigeria Port Authority. During the meeting, I highlighted critical areas, charting a clear direction which are crucial to the growth and development of the Port Authority.”

While stressing the importance of prompt and efficient service delivery, Prince Adeyeye urged the management to be innovative and strategic in their initiatives to ensure services are rendered efficiently to tap into new streams of revenue and ensure efficiency in the collection and remittance of the already existing sources. According to him, the board would promote efforts to modernise the port operations as well as to optimise asset utilisation at all NPA locations.

A key part of Prince Adeyeye’s vision is the welfare and professional development of staff. Describing the NPA workforce as the backbone of the Authority, he declared that staff welfare should no longer be treated as a privilege but a necessity for productivity.

He pledged the board’s support for policies that promote career growth, workplace safety, and the physical and mental well-being of employees.

Acknowledging that the workforce is the strength of NPA, we are also committed to ensuring a better welfare for the members of staff, and promoting professional growth, as such is not a privilege but a necessity for productivity.” He added

A working environment built on mutual respect, team spirit, and inclusivity is essential to our collective success,” the Chairman said, encouraging all cadres to implement dignity in their relationship with one another.

Prince Adeyeye also underscored the need to rebuild public confidence in the NPA. According to him, the Authority should be projected as a dependable, proactive and professional organisation by port users and the international shipping community.

Shortly after the meeting, the Chairman led the board members on a facility tour of the headquarters to assess staff working conditions and inspect key port infrastructure. The exercise, he noted, would help shape the board’s decisions on immediate and long-term needs.
