Justice Ogunmoye Sworn In as Ekiti’s Sixth Substantive Chief Judge

Honourable Justice Lekan Ogunmoye has been sworn in as the sixth substantive Chief Judge of Ekiti State, marking a key moment in the state’s judicial history.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who presided over the swearing-in ceremony, described the appointment as both well-earned and timely, highlighting Ogunmoye’s meritorious service within the judiciary. Justice Ogunmoye has served as Acting Chief Judge since November 2024 before his appointment was confirmed by the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

“This is a significant moment for our state and the judiciary,” Governor Oyebanji said, urging the new Chief Judge to discharge his duties with courage, integrity, and justice. He reminded the new judicial head that beyond accolades, it is the legacy of fairness, diligence, and service that will define his tenure.

Justice Ogunmoye’s elevation comes at a time when the Ekiti judiciary continues to enjoy strong public trust and a reputation for excellence. Governor Oyebanji reaffirmed his administration’s support for judicial independence and promised ongoing investments in infrastructure, digital transformation, and broader reforms within the justice sector.

“We remain committed to ensuring that our judiciary functions efficiently, transparently, and remains accessible to all,” he said.

The governor emphasized the importance of maintaining public confidence in the legal system, which he described as “the last hope of the common man.” He expressed confidence that under Justice Ogunmoye’s leadership, the state's judiciary would not only maintain its high standards but also reach new heights.

Governor Oyebanji concluded with a congratulatory message, wishing Justice Ogunmoye a successful and impactful tenure in office.

The swearing-in was attended by top government officials, members of the judiciary, and stakeholders from across the legal and civic communities.
