Ekiti Leaders Celebrate Senator Dayo Adeyeye's NPA Appointment in Abuja

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, on Thursday evening, led a high-powered delegation of political and community leaders to honour Senator Dayo Adeyeye following his appointment as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The event, held at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, was marked by an outpouring of pride, unity, and celebration, highlighting the collective joy of Ekiti State at the elevation of one of its prominent sons to a critical national position.

Senator Adeyeye’s appointment was hailed as both a personal milestone and a significant recognition of Ekiti’s growing influence in national affairs. The gathering also reflected a broader narrative of solidarity and shared identity, as stakeholders across party lines came together in a rare show of cohesion.

Speakers at the event praised Adeyeye’s long-standing commitment to public service, describing his new role as a testament to competence, dedication, and deep-rooted patriotism.

Earlier in 2024, when Senator Dayo Adeyeye’s appointment was announced, Governor Biodun Oyebanji had expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a well-deserved recognition of excellence. He praised Adeyeye as “a thoroughbred professional, a thinker and an astute manager of men and materials,” highlighting his distinguished contributions across the private sector, legal practice, pro-democracy activism, and public service at both state and national levels.

“We thank the President, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment of Senator Adeyeye, who we all know as a thoroughbred professional… and who has also paid his dues in the private sector, law practice, pro-democracy advocacy and in the public service at the state and national levels,” the governor said.

He also extended his gratitude to the President for appointing other Ekiti indigenes to key positions, including recent slots on the governing councils of federal institutions. According to Oyebanji, these appointments not only reflect the President’s inclusive leadership style but also position Ekiti sons and daughters to play active roles in national development.

The event served not just as a celebration of an individual achievement but as a reminder of the strength that lies in unity and the collective responsibility of leaders to uplift their own.

The night ended on a high note, with guests expressing optimism that Senator Adeyeye’s leadership at the NPA would bring positive transformation to the maritime sector while also projecting Ekiti’s capacity for national leadership.
