As President Bola Tinubu mark second year in
office, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has
ramped up oversight of major infrastructure projects in Abuja. On Thursday,
Wike embarked on an inspection tour of key development sites, showcasing the
administration’s push to deliver a modern and efficient capital city.
The minister’s tour
included several significant projects:
· The newly completed Apo-Wassa Junction Road,
·
The N20 Interchange, which connects Wole Soyinka
Way with the Kubwa Expressway, and
·
A new access road to the Court of Appeal in Dakibiyu
District.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the pace and standard of work at each site, praising contractors and project managers for maintaining quality and timelines. “We are committed to transforming Abuja into a capital that reflects our national aspirations, one that is functional, inclusive, and ready for the future,” he said.
The inspection tour is part of broader preparations for events marking President Tinubu’s two-year milestone in office. The FCT, as the symbolic and administrative heart of Nigeria, plays a central role in demonstrating the achievements of the federal government.
Wike, known for his assertive leadership style and infrastructure-first approach, has made revitalizing Abuja a top priority. Since taking office, he has focused on tackling long-standing urban challenges, from road congestion to uncompleted projects, aiming to restore public confidence in government-led development.
These infrastructure efforts are not just symbolic. Improved road networks and access points like the Court of Appeal Road enhance mobility, reduce travel time, and support critical institutions. For residents and visitors alike, visible progress on capital projects also signals a functioning governance system.
