BREAKING: Nigerian Troops Reclaim Marte from Boko Haram, ISWAP in Fierce Night Raid — Two Soldiers Killed

Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully recaptured New Marte in Borno State from Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents, killing dozens of terrorists in the process.

The military operation, which began around 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, came days after terrorists stormed a military base in Marte, dislodging troops and forcing residents to flee. Reinforcements, bolstered by a morale-boosting visit from Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, turned the tide, allowing troops to regain control of the embattled community.

Military sources confirmed that the joint land and air offensive was carried out along strategic axes of Marte, which borders Monguno, Dikwa, Gomboru Ngala, and the volatile Lake Chad Basin—long known for its porous borders and cross-border insurgent movement from the Sahel.

According to a military statement, the terrorists had attempted to re-infiltrate the area but were met with heavy firepower. Troops pursued fleeing insurgents, dealing significant blows to their ranks. The precise number of terrorist casualties remains undisclosed.

Tragically, two Nigerian soldiers lost their lives in the battle. Their sacrifice underscores the ongoing cost of the fight against terrorism in the region.

The military confirmed the clash and casualties via a social media update, stating that the situation in Marte has now stabilized.
