Ekiti Deputy Governor Aides Shortchanged FESSU

The relationship between the State government and the state indigenous union seems not palatable as the Deputy governor of the State who doubles as an aspirant for governor, Prof Olusola ELEKA allegedly assaulted the President of Federation of Ekiti State Students Union, Comr Adewumi Peter Idowu in his office in the early hours of today when the President and his General Secretary, Ademiluyi Ayodele Joseph went to distribute letters of notification of protest as the state governor has failed to pay the students bursary and scholarship since his inception to office.

However, the Deputy Governor media aids has swung into action to defend the action of their principal and alleged that the union leaders came to the deputy governors office to solicit for fund.

Moreover, the union public relations officer, Comr Arowolo  has on behalf of the union reacted that the deputy governor aides had been shortchanging the union,  that the State government is constitutionally the cheif financier of the union.

"We want to state categorically that FESSU leadership never received any money from the Deputy Governor for personal financial aggrandizement. It must be noted that the incumbent administration received financial assistance from the Deputy Governor's office for Ekiti Students' Summit held on December 1, 2018 and National Congress held March 9, 2018."

"It may interest the public to know that the sum of 200k was released by the Deputy Governor as his contribution for Ekiti Students' Summit where he was the Chairman of the Occasion and out of the 200k, Mr. Oso Adedeji (Dejavu) received 30k as his largesse, the PA to the Deputy Governor received 30k while the PA's secretary received 5k (All from the Deputy Governor's Office), remaining the sum of 135k for the Union to make use of."

"As per congress, out of the 80k released as the Deputy Governor's contribution, Mr. Adedeji Oso also received 15k while PA to the Deputy Governor received 15k remaining 50k."

"It will interest the general publics to know that the main financier of FESSU as constitutionally enshrined is the government of Ekiti State, so if FESSU received money for programmes aimed at sensitizing Ekiti indigenous students from the government, it does not debar FESSU from agitating for the right of Ekiti Students most especially on payment of bursaries and scholarship."

"Stating the fact unequivocally, after exhausting the 2Cs (Consultation and Consolidation) of Struggles on issues of Bursaries & Scholarship amongst other demands, the Leadership of FESSU held a press conference on Thursday 15th March 2018 where it was unanimously agreed to state a wide protest against the nonpayments of the entitlements after Seven Days ultimatum. However, to make the protest hitch-free and peaceful, the President and Secretary were distributing protest notifications letters and after the State Governor and Deputy has duly been copied respectively today, The Deputy Governor invited the duo and while chastising them aggressively for resorting to protest, tore the letters and reportedly slapped the President. As a matter of fact, The General Secretary of the Union, Comrade Ademiluyi Ayobamidele Joseph has been summoned by his school (EKSU) Vice Chancellor" Arowolo stated.

He concluded that the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Prof. Olusola Olubunmi Eleka should be held responsible for any further attack, abduction, indiscriminate arrests, victimization in schools or persecution of any kind of the Leadership of FESSU National before, during and after the protest.
